Software Engineers All Levels

Amentum is seeking technical System Engineer professionals with related education and/or experience to support Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA. You will be part of our growing systems & software engineering team and contribute to our diverse skillsets across multiple prime contracts in support of our Centers of Excellence. We are looking for individuals to join our team atmosphere that are eager to make a difference by solving complex Digital Engineering challenges. Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.

The work location for this position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia where we have provided support to the customer for over 50 years!

**Position contingent on contract award which is expected in 2026**

All Levels Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

• Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license required for access to customer site and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft etc. are not permitted) as this position requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

Senior Level Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Ten (10) years of experience in software engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Computer Science and six (6) years of experience in software engineering. Software engineering experience should be as a skilled developer creating or maintaining two or more of the following: operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, and utility programs for software applications.   

Mid Level Minimum Requirements and Skills

• Five (5) years of experience in software engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Computer Science and two (2) years of experience in software engineering. 
  Software engineering experience should be as a skilled developer creating or maintaining two or more of the following: operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, and utility programs for software applications.
•  Experience must include at least 1 of Programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, HTML, DotNET o UML/ SysML .

Entry Level Minimum Requirements and Skills

•  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following competency areas: Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or Computer Science. 

Experience must include at least one (1) of the following areas: 

• Cyber-security 
• Programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, HTML, DotNET 
• UML/ SysML 
• Real-time programming 
• Conducting software testing at multiple levels (unit, system, system of systems), performing analyses to predict and quantify software constraints, defining/designing actionable corrective measures 
• Big data, data mining, machine learning, or artificial intelligence techniques
