ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Staff Accountant to maintain and control the organization's General Ledger accounts and business transactions, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that include analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Job Functions:
- Maintains the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules on the FAS Software System; provides monthly detail to the Senior Accountant for General Journal entries; ensures proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, and reconciling accounts.
- Accrues expenses; assists in assigning account numbers; reconciles accounts.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes, and providing training.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provides accounting support for special tasks by reviewing financial information; converting data to a general ledger system; and obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
- Assists in setting up new entities within the accounting system, as necessary.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records, and reports.
- Completes daily cash reports for distribution to management; ensures that all cash transactions are appropriately and promptly recorded.
- Performs other duties as required to support the Accounting Department

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum of 2+ years of general ledger or general accounting experience
- 0-key by touch
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills; must be detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Open to change and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to follow up on pending issues
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with Unanet preferred
