Job Summary:

Monitor patients with implanted cardiac devices and perform a variety of diagnostic procedures, analyses and evaluations through remote monitoring and at clinic settings

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enroll patients in remote monitoring of devices; educate patients about devices
  • Schedule and monitor device remote transmissions; monitor alerts received from devices and notify patients of significant results and to schedule an appointment with physicians
  • Evaluate device programming and proper functioning including batteries and wires/leads; monitor device battery life and voltage
  • Program/reprogram devices as needed; identify and address device malfunctions
  • Provide care for the physical needs of patients including wound care for newly implanted devices, staple/suture removal
  • Notify physicians regarding significant findings/results including irregular heart rhythms
  • Complete and upload/scan reports to patients’ electronic medical record
  • Order devices, supplies and educational materials for the clinic or to be sent to patients’ homes
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the department and/or practice

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Completion of an approved cardiac device technical program
  • 1-3 years cardiac device management experience
  • Patient care experience
  • Certification as a Certified Cardiographic Technician
  • ACLS and BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular diseases,cardiac medications and cardiac rhythms

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm data
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to convey and receive information effectively (face-to-face, telephone and electronic)
  • Good analytical and judgment skills
  • Ability to use computer software programs and systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, personnel and/or financial data
  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently, prioritize, handle multiple tasks and manage time

Safety Requirements:

  • Compliance with departmental Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Mandatory TB test annually (based on Department guidelines)

Work Schedule:

  • 40-hour workweek
  • Hours and days to be determined by the business needs of the department
  • May require on-call duty and the ability to work outside of scheduled work hours when the need arises
