Description:
Under the direction of the Black Student Achievement Program Supervisor, the BSAP Summer Institute Assistant Secondary Administrator will serve as the instructional and administrative head of the four-week secondary program in the absence of the Administrator. The Assistant Administrator is expected to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment in all areas of work. Functions of this position include, but are not limited to, establishing a safe and nurturing climate conducive to teaching and learning, and overseeing instructional practices that ultimately accelerate academic achievement.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Education or a related field. (An official transcript or an evaluation of Foreign education by one of the agencies approved by Maryland State Dept. of Education (MSDE) must be uploaded at the time of submitting application)
Hold, or be eligible for, a valid Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) with the Administrator I endorsement (Administration and Supervision).
Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESÂ
Have three years of successful teaching and/or school-based professional leadership experience.
Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal communication with the ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Outstanding references relative to demonstrated knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, central office, and school-based staff, students, parents, and community members.Â
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Advanced computer application skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Meet, etc.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the administrator in leading the BSAP Summer Institute and implementing the HCPSS Strategic Plan: Together we will BE GREAT at the program level.
Articulate a clear vision for a successful summer program and model sound judgment and active leadership with all staff.
Demonstrates knowledge of secondary curriculum and programming.
Collect, analyze, and use multiple data sources to improve instruction, support student achievement, and drive continuous improvement.
Promote positive attitudes toward students and colleagues, and cultivate effective interpersonal skills.
Work effectively with students and staff and engage respectfully with culturally diverse families and communities.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to academic success and social–emotional well-being for all students.
Collaborate with the administrator to set and uphold high performance expectations for all personnel.
Coordinate the hiring process, including scheduling and conducting interviews for teacher and support staff candidates.
Prepare program schedules, assist with student registration, and manage program inventory.
Proactively seek authentic feedback from students, families, staff, and community partners to enhance program effectiveness.
Involve parents and community members appropriately in program activities and communications.
Respond to all stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
Compensation:
The salary is a flat rate as specified in the Operating Budget. The BSAP Summer Institute Assistant Secondary Administrator is hired on an annual basis. This position is subject to availability of budgetary funds and pupil enrollment. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.Â
Additional Information:
There will be a pre-screening of all applicant credentials. Interviews will be limited to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the basic requirements, have experiences and education that most closely match the position qualifications and the needs of the school system. Â
