Mental Health Technician 2

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Technician 2 to join the Psychiatry team. Mental Health Technician 2 - Job Responsibilities:

• The Mental Health Technician 2 under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients whose care requirements are routine, standardized and with predictable outcomes. 
• Demonstrates respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines while serving as a unit preceptor for all new Mental Health Technicians
• Assists unit leadership with oversight of the unit's Mental Health Technician education needs/compliance.
• Provides individualized patient support for activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, bed making and measurement of vital signs and intake/output. 
• Provides information to patients, families and visitors which may include orients patients to the unit/program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions and provides printed information. 
• Serves as a resource and unit preceptor for all new Mental Health Technicians. Works with the unit leadership to ensure Mental Health Technicians have current competencies and skills to perform their work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: Two years of experience as a Mental Health Technician 1 or Clinical Technician 1 at Inova Health System and/or two years as psychiatric technician at another facility.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association- upon start

Preferred Qualifications:

• Clinical/Medical/Behavioral background
