The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise supply chain strategy for a growing oil and gas company. This role oversees strategic sourcing, procurement, materials management, logistics, inventory control, contract management, and vendor performance across field and corporate operations.
The manager will serve as a key business partner to Operations, Drilling & Completions, Production, Finance, HSE, IT, and Legal, ensuring compliant, cost-effective, and performance-driven delivery of goods and services that support field execution and capital efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep upstream oil and gas experience, strong commercial acumen, field credibility, strategic vision, and the ability to build scalable processes and systems in a dynamic, acquisition-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with corporate growth and operating objectives.
Lead annual sourcing plans in support of capital and operating budgets.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cost, quality, service, and HSE performance.
Build scalable systems and processes to support integration of acquisitions and new asset development.
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
Oversee sourcing and contracting for drilling, completions, production, facilities, midstream, and corporate categories.
Negotiate master service agreements (MSAs), pricing agreements, and long-term strategic partnerships.
Identify cost reduction opportunities through benchmarking, market intelligence, and competitive bidding.
Ensure compliance with company policies, delegated authorities, and audit requirements.
Vendor & Contract Management
Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to ensure reliability, innovation, and performance.
Oversee contract administration and compliance to ensure contractual performance, regulatory alignment, and value realization.
Implement vendor performance scorecards tied to HSE, service levels, cost control, and ESG expectations.
Partner with Legal and HSE to ensure contractual protection and regulatory compliance.
Materials Management & Logistics
Oversee inventory optimization across field locations and warehouses.
Implement controls to minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
Lead logistics planning to ensure timely delivery of materials to their destination.
Improve materials visibility through ERP systems and digital tools.
Financial & Risk Management
Partner with Finance and Operations Planning to align procurement forecasts with capital and LOE budgets.
Monitor spend analytics and ensure accurate accruals and reporting.
Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including commodity volatility, supplier concentration, and operational disruptions.
Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
Establish clear KPIs and performance standards.
Promote a culture of HSE, integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
Strong experience in upstream oil and gas (drilling, completions, production, facilities).
Demonstrated success leading sourcing initiatives in a capital-intensive environment.
Experience supporting acquisitions and post-acquisition integration is preferred.
