Underwriter

Position Summary

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:
• Underwrite and analyze residential and commercial Builders Risk submissions, including new business, renewals, and endorsements
• Evaluate construction project details such as project type, construction methods, materials, values, timelines, locations, and risk exposures
• Determine appropriate pricing, terms, conditions, deductibles, and coverage structures in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority levels
• Assess risk quality using engineering reports, loss history, CAT exposure, and financial strength of insureds and contractors
• Collaborate with brokers and agents to gather required information, and provide underwriting guidance
• Ensure compliance with company underwriting standards
• Support business development efforts by maintaining strong broker relationships.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven knowledge of underwriting experience preferably in Builders Risk, Construction, or Property insurance
• Solid understanding of risk assessment, pricing, and loss analysis
• Excellent analytical and decision-making
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Work and Education Qualifications:
• Minimum 1+ year of experience in underwriting, administrative support or customer service roles in insurance industry is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

License and Certifications:
• 2-20 license
