Job Description

Texas A&M University–Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biomedical Sciences. We seek a biologist whose research and teaching focus on the molecular or cellular aspects of human health and disease. While we welcome applicants from across the biomedical sciences, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in biotechnology, -omics (e.g., genomics, proteomics, metabolomics), cell biology, or microbiology, as these areas support key instructional and research needs in the department. We also welcome research programs in complementary biomedical fields, and candidates who use experimental, computational, or translational approaches are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate Biomedical Sciences courses, including core classes and upper-level courses (such as Biotechnology, Genomics, Proteomics, Cell Physiology, or Microbiology), develop additional courses in their area of expertise, and maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach lower-level core courses and upper-level courses.

  • Develop or update biomedical sciences courses as needed.

  • Establish an active research program that includes undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Mentor MS thesis students.

  • Participate in departmental and university service

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or a closely related field.

  • At least 18 graduate semester hours in relevant biological or biomedical disciplines.

  • Evidence of effective teaching and strong research potential

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience mentoring or involving students in research.

  • Potential to secure external funding. • Record of scholarship in biomedical sciences (e.g., biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, -omics, microbiology, or related fields).

  • Experience teaching laboratory-based or upper-division biomedical courses
