Salary: Starting at $16.50 / hour

 

Job Summary

The Vocational Instructor utilizes teaching techniques, materials, curricular resources and professional consultation as necessary to develop, refine and enhance the vocational skills of the clients at TWE.  Maintains consistent records of client behavior, work performance, progress on goals, and client payroll.


Responsibilities

  • Provides a prescriptive and evaluative vocational program.
  • Works with each individual’s team to develop and implement an individualized plan that best meets the client’s personal and professional growth and is consistent with Licensure Requirements.
  • Responsible for the oversight of their assigned area or enclave.
  • Creates a welcoming environment and delegates assignments to residential counselors and/or aides in the implementation of client programming and program site operations.
  • Oversees production within their assigned group area or enclave, ensuring work quality is efficient, consistent and compliant with deadlines. Maintains accurate client payroll records.
  • Utilizes an electronic health record to ensure all necessary documentation for individuals (behavior, attendance, etc) is completed, up to date, and accurate.
  • Maintains consistent records of client behavior, attendance, work performance and production, and progress on program goals. Prepares and submits accurate data to designated team member (s) for all required reports according to due dates.
  • Introduces employment options and guides individuals in vocational exploration by familiarizing them with different work settings, options and responsibilities. Responsible to effectively communicate with the Care or Job Placement Coordinators in regards to individual needs and issues with employment.  Maintains that communication to identify and advocate for individuals ready for alternate employment.
  • Plans and implements productive and educational activities for clients ensuring choice and active engagement during all program hours.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment, which includes being respectful of shared space and the assurance of inventory and maintenance of all materials and equipment.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and documentation of client outcomes and individualized programs (ISP, BSP), as appropriate.
  • Determines the need for environmental modifications in the work setting and assists in obtaining these adaptations and/or utilizes and maintains adaptive equipment as stipulated in the individual’s ISP to assist the individual in the acquisition of skills to enhance performance in specific tasks.
  • Assists clients in the areas of personal care and activities of daily living (including meal times, bathroom, etc) as stipulated in the ISP.
  • Assesses and utilizes instructional techniques, materials, curricular resources, and professional consultation as necessary to develop, refine, and/or enhance the quality of programming.
  • Participates in the implementation of vocational programming in the most appropriate environment, including the residence or community.
  • Responsible for maintaining familiarity with applicable licensing regulations to include Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (2390 regulations), the United States Department of Labor, and funding agency requirements.
  • Assists with client arrival to and dismissal from the program, as needed.
  • Builds relationships with employers and familiarizes potential employers with benefits gained from hiring through Woods Services.  Maintaining positive community and customer relations.
  • Meets and maintains all annual training and regulatory requirements.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, and special events or assignments, as requested.
  • Acts as a support to all Woods’ adult day programs, to include participation in cross training, if appropriate.
  • Displays professionalism and maintains effective communication and relationships with all levels of staff and management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to meet the needs and ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the program.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Some positions may require a valid driver's license. 
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • A minimum of 1 years experience in a habilitative /vocational setting serving adults with developmental disabilities required.

Education

 

Vocational Instructor 1

Proof of a High School Diploma, GED or a College Degree is required;

 

Vocational Instructor 2

Proof of an Associate’s Degree is required;

 

Vocational Instructor 3

Proof of a college degree in any field required;

 

Vocational Instructor 4

Must possess a bachelor’s degree (issued in the US, or verified by an authorized accreditation agency) in a human services field;
