Position Summary

The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Frozen Department, ensuring outstanding customer service, product quality, inventory management, merchandising execution, and food safety compliance. This position leads department associates, maintains proper stock levels, drives sales, minimizes shrink, and supports overall store profitability through efficient department operations.

Key Responsibilities

Department Operations

  • Supervise daily activities within the Frozen Department.
  • Ensure frozen cases, bunkers, and displays are fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing.
  • Monitor product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) standards to maintain freshness and reduce shrink.
  • Review inventory levels and coordinate replenishment needs.
  • Execute company merchandising programs, planograms, and seasonal promotions.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, shelf tags, and promotional signing.
  • Ensure freezer equipment is operating properly and maintain required temperature standards.

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional service to customers by responding promptly to questions and requests.
  • Assist customers in locating products and making purchasing decisions.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Foster a positive shopping experience that encourages customer loyalty.

Inventory & Shrink Control

  • Assist with ordering and inventory management processes.
  • Monitor sales trends and product movement to maximize in-stock conditions.
  • Minimize shrink through proper handling, storage, rotation, and inventory controls.
  • Conduct inventory counts and assist with department audits as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Train, coach, and support Frozen Department associates.
  • Delegate tasks and monitor completion of department priorities.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Communicate company objectives, policies, and operational expectations.
  • Support store management in achieving department and store goals.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and associates.
  • Properly handle frozen products to protect quality and food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous retail grocery experience required; frozen foods experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and customer service abilities.
  • Basic math, merchandising, and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work for extended periods in refrigerated and frozen environments.
  • Ability to push and pull carts, pallets, and merchandise.
