Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Meta engineers on the next generation optical communication technology with a particular focus on the testing of optical modules and subsystems for Data Center applications
- Work in a collaborative environment across Meta teams including SW, Thermal, Mechanical, and EE
- Develop test and simulation methodologies relevant for next-generation, high-speed optical technologies
- Develop automation practices and solutions for lab testing
- Lead new optical communication NPI programs, working closely with optics vendors and ODMs
- Interface with the industry and contribute to the RFI/RFP process for optical solutions
- Communicate complex optical hardware requirements to non-experts both internally and to industry-facing stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Sciences and Engineering, and/or related field
- 2+ years of experience in the development and validation of optical communication components such as lasers, transmitters, receivers, and transceivers
- 2+ years of experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition and test automation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and test automation
- Programming skills in one or more of the following: Python, C/C++, or MATLAB
- Experience working in distributed software development environments
- Experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components
- Experience in creating or influencing product requirements documents (PRDs) and data sheets
- Experience with advanced modulation formats, direct detect and coherent systems (e.g., OOK, PAM-4, QPSK, 8-QAM, 16QAM) and concepts
- Experience with optical integration including InP PICs, Silicon-photonic PICs, PIC-IC integration, and 3D optical packaging technologies
