Opened in 2020, The Pillars Child Care Center is conveniently located off the light rail transit station and close to the metro bus near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, MN. This Intergenerational Child Care Center is embedded in The Pillars of Prospect Park Senior Living community and features 133 Independent living, 106 assisted living, and 44 memory care apartments.

Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for care and supervision of children in their assigned age group which may include infant, toddler, preschool or school-age children. To lead, plan and organize childcare program activities to ensure that the program provides the highest quality childcare available.

This position includes:Â
- 80 hours per two weeks
- Monday-Friday
- Working in our young preschool classroom (3yr-4yr olds)
Responsibilities
- Research and development of curriculum relevant to your classroom age group.
- Provide weekly plans to both the Director and the parents of the childcare program.
- Ensures implementation of age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate the psychosocial, cognitive and cultural needs of the children in their care.
- Responsible to report any concerns to the teacher or director regarding staff or classroom issues.
- Assists in keeping necessary attendance records, up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed.
- Assist in communicating with parents on child development issues, policies or other concerns related to their child.
- Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety and overall well-being of children at all times.
- Assist in conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year.
- Assists in completing assessments of children on an on-going basis.
- Maintains confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.
- Strict compliance with universal precautions in the classroom or/and when administering first aid.
- Directly supervise classroom aides and volunteers. Report all needed information to the classroom Teacher or the center’s Director.
- Report daily needs and activities to the Teacher.
- Assist in maintaining attendance and daily meal count.
- Assist in maintaining daily program schedule.
- Supervises health and safety needs of every child.
- Assists in conducting classroom and parent meetings.
- Keeps classroom neat and orderly.
Required Qualifications
- Child Development or Assistant Teacher qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.0033
- less than 1 year
- Current Pediatric CPR American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Arts
- Bachelor of Science
- 1 year Two years teaching in childcare center or early childhood program
