Job Summary
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of vacation rentals and resort facilities at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. In addition to performing skilled maintenance work, this role provides guidance and support to maintenance team members, helps coordinate daily work assignments, and ensures repairs and preventative maintenance are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
This position plays a critical role in preserving the quality, safety, and appearance of resort facilities while supporting an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with coordinating daily maintenance tasks and provide guidance to maintenance technicians.
- Conduct routine inspections of vacation rentals and resort property to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Perform maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize guest inconvenience and maintain service standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems including lighting, elevators, pools, appliances, and other resort amenities.
- Support and help implement preventative maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of resort assets.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all safety protocols.
- Assist leadership with training new team members and promoting best maintenance practices.
- Respond to emergency maintenance issues and participate in on-call rotation when needed.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, housekeeping, and operations teams to maintain the resort’s high standards.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment such as drills, saws, electrical testers, and other hand tools.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
- Must have full range of motion and dexterity to safely operate tools and equipment.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify hazards and respond appropriately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
- 3+ years of property maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality, resort, or multi-unit residential settings.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.
- Knowledge of maintenance safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a golf cart or resort vehicle.
