POSITION TITLE: Project Manager - Retail Design Construction

Purpose

The position will contribute to the success of AEO inc. by supporting the retail design process for ALL brands within the AEO Inc. portfolio. This individual is responsible for coordinating the efforts of internal and external contributors in the development of Construction Documents for retail store projects.  This role requires knowledge of architecture, interior design, and construction detailing, consultant management and day to day collaboration with the field. This individual will closely collaborate with the  retail project delivery team, as well as cross functional teams to ensure the quality realization of new and reimagined stores.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in developing prototype project documents for use in future store projects 
  • Day to Day management of professional consultants, Architects, Engineers, etc.
  • Manage the construction document process, review consultant, architectural and contractor’s drawings to ensure consistency with project and concept, from preliminary submission up to shop drawings
  • Collaborate with Construction  to resolve programming needs according to our budgets and project schedules
  • Ownership and management of project construction administration in partnership with AOR/EOR as required
  • Partner and coordinate design activities with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, suppliers, and millwork vendors as required for new retail spaces to ensure project criteria is met
  • Manage the Landlord communication through to final approval. Coordinate the drawing submission process for permitting in partnership with the expediting team and AOR/EOR
  • Identify and escalate issues that can adversely impact project schedules, costs, or design integrity

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Retail Design, Store Planning, Architecture, or equivalent required
  • Possess direct progressive experience in retail concepts, branded architecture with a major retail company
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent mandatory 
  • Proficiency with Autocad, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong analytical & creative problem solving skills
  • Thorough understanding in the creation and coordination of project construction documents 
  • Ability to understand, visualize, and communicate architectural details, design intent, and standard building practices
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate store design + scope to cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of Millwork and Retail Fixture standards and details
  • General understanding of building codes
  • Proficient understanding of HVAC, electrical, & plumbing drawings, and the systems these drawings support
  • Ability to multi task through aggressive schedules in a very fast paced environment
  • Self-motivated and independent “thinkers”
  • Demonstrates collaborative skills and ability to work well within a multi-disciplined team

  • Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
