Position Summary: The Express Care Provider delivers high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals with acute illnesses and minor injuries in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. The provider evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients across the lifespan, performs procedures within scope of practice, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure efficient, evidence-based care. This role offers flexible scheduling opportunities, including 10-hour and 12-hour shifts, with weekday, evening, and/or weekend coverage rotations as needed.

State license
BCLS certification required
ACLS certification preferred
National Provider Identifier (NPI)
DEA Number

Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in both Adult and Pediatric settings

Location:    Attendance required at assigned CHDC site(s) as needed or required.

Position Responsibilities:
Clinical: 

 Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute, episodic, and non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
 Manage a broad range of conditions, including upper respiratory infections, influenza, urinary tract infections, rashes, sprains, strains, lacerations, minor fractures, and other common urgent care conditions.
 Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing including laboratory studies, point-of-care testing, and EKGs, as appropriate.

 Perform procedures within scope of practice, including:
• Laceration repair, abscess incision and drainage, splinting and immobilization, removal, wound care, and other minor office-based procedures.
 Responds to emergencies and answers medical questions. 
 Obtains and documents appropriate chief complaint, past medical, family, and social history, review of systems, examination, medications and allergies, assessment, and plan for each patient. 
 Provides medical orders for prescriptions, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals. 
 Reviews ancillary test results and coordinates notification to the patient. 
• Provides patient education as needed. 
 Available to patients personally or through clinical staff to answer questions and relay information regarding their care. 
 Completion of all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner. 

Medical Administrative:

 Participates in public relations and community outreach activities, as center shall from time-to-time reasonably request.
 Provide assistance with OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
 Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

 Previous family practice or urgent care experience preferred. 
 CPR, and all applicable certifications required (must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
 Understands ethics of confidentiality.
 Previous computer experience or training preferred.
 Successful candidates must submit to TB testing and any vaccinations recommended by OSHA Guidelines.

 Mental Demands: Stressful due to time constraints and multiple tasks/procedures occurring at the same time. 
 Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 Manual Dexterity Required: Must be able to manipulate small electronic parts and controls.

• This position requires compliance with Health Center’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures (“Written Standards”). Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the employee’s regular performance evaluation.
