Provide speech-language therapy to clients of the Walker Scottish Rite Clinic and its satellite location in the City of Saint Louis and supervise graduate students in practicum. The Speech-Language Pathologist is an iterant position responsible for client-centered care, mentoring the next generation of professionals, and advancing community engagement, all in alignment with Maryville University’s mission and the goals of the Walker Scottish Rite Clinic.

 

This is a 30 hour per week position.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Client-Centered Service Delivery
    • Maximize scheduled work hours by providing direct service to clients at assigned programs/sites.
    • Assist clients with intake, consent, appointment scheduling, and check-in.
    • Conduct screenings and diagnostic evaluations in-person or via telepractice; write reports and maintain waiting lists.
    • Develop individualized speech-language intervention goals and provide therapy sessions.
    • Assess intervention outcomes after each session and maintain accurate daily log notes.
    • Provide parent/caregiver conferences, training, and home-practice programs.
    • Maintain site and therapy equipment cleanliness and organization.
    • Monitor and report site needs, including supplies and correspondence.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Learning & Mentoring
    • Supervise and mentor assigned college students during their clinic experience.
    • Instruct students on diagnostics, intervention techniques, session planning, and data analysis.
    • Provide feedback and edits on documentation, as well as mentorship for critical thinking and self-evaluation.
    • Offer summative competency ratings of students’ clinical knowledge and professional development.
  • Community Involvement 
    • Promote awareness of speech-language early intervention through public education and in-service presentations.
    • Cultivate and maintain referral partnerships to expand clinic services for underserved populations.
    • Demonstrate professional leadership through lifelong learning and continuing education on best practices.
    • Support clinic fundraising and university events, and advance the Maryville University Strategic Plan.

Qualifications

  • Required Knowledge
    • Experience with childhood speech-language intervention.
    • Knowledge of diagnostic and intervention methods regarding childhood speech and language disorders.
  • Required Certifications, Skills, or Abilities
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), or eligibility to obtain and maintain.
    • Current and valid Missouri state license or provisional license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Formal Education
    • Master’s degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
