Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Core Avionics Chief System Engineer (Level 6) to join the Mission Systems Aviate, Navigate, Communicate (ANC) Avionics Team for Avionics development and integration on Air Proprietary 1, in Berkeley, MO.

As a member of the ANC team for a major proprietary program, you will provide technical leadership and drive technical execution in the development of a new avionics systems as well as integration of existing and modified equipment into new platforms. You will be a technical interface to the program leadership, the avionics suppliers, and the customer. Additionally, you can expect to drive compliance with program and company processes as well as recommending areas for process improvement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drives technical excellence for Avionics development and integration activities ranging across multiple functional areas including Communication, Navigation & Identification systems, Timing, and Stores Management.

  • Provides technical leadership and ensures common practices across programs

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Works closely with program managers, program chief engineers and other Boeing Teams to

  • Ensure mission success and prompt resolution of anomalies

  • Provides mentoring and coaching to Avionics Engineers

  • Performs Technical Lead Engineer (TLE) functions for assigned mentees

  • Drives best practices to meet programs' cost, schedule, quality and technical objectives

  • Captures lessons learned and best practices for implementation on future programs

  • Researches and identifies potential capability, hardware and architectures with providing recommendation for investment

  • Resolves complex problems impacting completion of program milestones

  • Coordinates with Boeing Executive Leadership and Customer Leadership on Technical Issues and Strategy

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 25% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 20+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 18+ years of work related engineering experience with a Master’s or 15+ years of work related engineering experience with a PhD

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
