As a Retail Operations Specialist, you will consult, direct, and manage all aspects of the assigned stores' Bakery and Deli department operations in a manner designed to maximize sales and gross margins, department market shares and increase revenue and profitability as applicable, and provide positive customer experiences. You will ensure the effective utilization of personnel and available company resources and work closely with decision makers and independent store owners to assist with department specific sales and merchandising as well as increasing the volume of company products and programs, as applicable.Job Description

Location: Sheboygan, WI
Travel Required: local 3-4 hour driving radius
You will contribute by:
- Maximize department sales and gross profits (if applicable to assigned department) using a combination of company programs and the past experience to provide direction, supervision, counsel and evaluations for the retail stores.
- Provide counsel to store owners/managers/department managers on equipment and operating practices and/or product merchandising and selection, pricing, personal training and evaluating
- Observe and ensure that all corporate store/company policies in assigned corporate stores are followed. When applicable or if necessary, suggest, submit or implement changes and additions to such policies in accordance with the guidelines in the company operations manual to correct deficiencies or to address problem areas that may not be adequately covered by existing policies or procedures
- Ensure that assigned store departments are compliant with all state, county and local weights and measures laws, and labeling requirements are followed in the department;
- Assist store managers in interviewing, hiring, and training department managers and employees including planning, assigned, and directing work, rewarding and disciplining employees, developing personnel for future department management positions and addressing employee complaints and resolving problems in assigned department when needed
- Make individual store visits and assist store owners in achieving and maintaining business relationship with the company
- Implement and adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, sanitation, health and packaging requirements as applicable in all assigned stores
- Research, create, assist, participate, and present new programs, special buys, promotion sale days, department merchandising/training seminars and special projects as applicable
- Responsible to assist and supervise new store set-ups, resets, and staff training
- Monitor labor scheduling and suggest changes in department schedules in assigned store
- Responsible for corporate store department managers who supervise the employees within the stores' departments
- Observe and ensure all assigned stores under labor contracts adhere to respective labor agreements

Operational Knowledge & Technical Skills
Comprehensive Knowledge: Maintain thorough familiarity with the nature and duties of every staff position within the department, including all procedures, policies, and operational standards.
Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to perform arithmetical calculations for cutting tests and calculate tare weight allowances.
Analytical Ability: Analyze and calculate gross margins, yields, ratios, fractions, percentages, and itemized pricing/proportion breakdowns for boxed deli and bakery items.
Administrative Accuracy: Verify vendor invoice charges and counts; accurately complete and submit all required records and reports.
Physical Requirements
Mobility: Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and stand for extended periods. Regularly required to sit and use hands to handle, feel, or operate tools and controls. Occasionally required to crouch or kneel.
Lifting: Must be able to frequently lift or exert force up to 50 pounds.
Agility: Maintain sufficient physical mobility to respond quickly to emergencies, including fire alarms, cleanup requests (spills or broken glass), and security or shoplifting assistance.
Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work around fresh fruits, vegetables, houseplants, and flowers without allergic interference. Must be able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and standard household cleaning agents (e.g., ammonia).
Communication & Literacy
Verbal Communication: Ability to hear, speak, and understand English to respond to in-store pages, accommodate customer inquiries, answer telephones, and communicate effectively with store owners, managers, colleagues, and sales representatives.
Reading & Comprehension: Proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting professional documents, including business periodicals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and company handbooks or policies.
Licensing & Certifications
Travel: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel between stores, including overnight stays if required.
Compliance: If assigned to a relevant department, must obtain and maintain an Operator’s License (Bartender’s License) as required by local and state ordinances to oversee the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Certifications: Ability to pass Food Safety Certification and all company-directed training modules.
Experience
Industry Background: 2–5 years of experience in the grocery or supermarket industry.
Preferred Skills: A background or functional knowledge of accounting is considered a plus.
