At McKesson 3PL, we are building the future of third-party logistics — and the Director, Operations Excellence will be at the heart of this transformation. This high-impact role partners directly with Distribution Center leaders and all key intersections to unlock performance, implement process and system innovations, and lead critical change initiatives, including the enterprise-wide S/4HANA EWMS upgrade. We’re looking for a dynamic, hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, loves solving complex problems, and knows how to rally teams to get things done — with excellence, energy, and a little fun along the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion McKesson 3PL’s operational excellence strategy and take the lead in driving transformational initiatives that elevate performance across the network.
  • Serve as the go-to operations lead for the SAP S/4HANA EWMS migration — a foundational project for our future — ensuring smooth execution and strong alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Step in as interim Distribution Center Leader when needed, bringing clarity, urgency, and steady leadership to ensure continuity and results.
  • Be a relentless problem-solver — identifying inefficiencies, crafting innovative solutions, and turning data into actionable insights.
  • Inspire, lead, and empower a team of industrial engineers to deliver high-impact projects that optimize systems, processes, and physical layouts.
  • Spearhead new client onboarding with DC leadership ensuring capacity, slotting and picking strategies are well defined in advance.
  • Collaborate with Ops Leadership on solutions for automation upgrades, packaging enhancements, and facility retrofits.
  • Develop detailed action plans, process flow maps, and project timelines from concept through execution.
  • Own cross-functional relationships and remove roadblocks through collaboration, communication, and influence.
  • Partner with quality and compliance teams to oversee cold chain packaging, validation protocols, and regulatory readiness (DEA, FDA, OSHA).
  • Foster a culture of trust, resilience, and engagement — helping teams navigate change and stay motivated through challenges.
  • Deliver clear, concise updates and recommendations to senior leadership, keeping them informed and aligned on risks, opportunities, and progress.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, dive into the details, and model the behaviors that define McKesson’s high-performance culture.

Minimum Requirements

12+ years of operational experience, including 8+ years of direct people leadership, with a proven track record of leading other leaders. 

Critical Skills

  • Proven track record of driving operational improvements and delivering measurable results in complex environments.
  • Deep knowledge of warehouse and labor management systems, ERP platforms and tools like BI, Business Objects, Smartsheet and Excel.  SAP, S/4HANA EWM experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communicator who can translate data into insights and inspire action at every level of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker who thrives on ambiguity and excels at navigating change with confidence and clarity.
  • Hands-on leadership style — ready to jump in, coach teams, and lead by example.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards in regulated industries (DEA, FDA, OSHA).
  • Strong execution skills, with the ability to juggle priorities and keep momentum on high-impact initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Physical Requirements

General office demands; Intermittent travel required, up to 50%.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
