Job Description:

The Residential Life Coordinator is responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive residential community that fosters personal growth, academic success, and community engagement. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned residential areas, supervises residential staff, and coordinates various programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the residential experience for students.


Essential Job Functions:

25 %A.Residential Community Management

1.聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive residential community.Through actively engaging residents, getting to know them on a personal level, understanding their backgrounds, interests, and concerns.

2.聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide opportunities for one-on-one interactions, and actively seek out residents who may need additional support.

3.聽聽聽聽聽聽 Foster a sense of belonging and community among residents by actively engaging residents to help them feel valued, welcome, respected regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs.

4.聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implement policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of residents.Enforce campus policies and community standards to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all residents.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide education to residents about campus policies, community standards, and expectations for behavior, promoting a culture of responsibility and accountability.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Adress behavioral issues such as noise complaints, substance use, and other policy violations through education, mediation, and appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assess effectiveness of interventions, review themes and trends that emerging in the residence hall and develop and implement training strategies and interventions accordingly.

5. Address and resolve conflicts and concerns within the residential community.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 address conflicts that arise between residents, providing mediation and facilitating constructive communication to resolve issues.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 offer support services to residents facing personal, academic, or social challenges, connecting them with campus resources such as counseling services, academic advising, and health services.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide follow-up to ascertain effectiveness of intervention and assess additional needs.

20 %B.Staff Supervision and Development

1.Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate resident assistants RAs).

2.Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship to residential staff.

3.Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions.

20 %C.Student Support and Advocacy

1.Serve as a resource and advocate for residents, providing guidance and support as needed.

2.Develop, evaluate, and facilitate programming and educational initiatives related to personal development, wellness, and diversity.

3. Connect residents with campus resources and support services.

20 %D.Crisis Response and Emergency Management:

1.聽聽聽 Respond to and manage emergency situations and crises within the residential community such as mental health emergencies, substance abuse issues and other emergencies, providing immediate support and connecting residents with appropriate resources and support.

2.聽聽聽 Provide follow-up to ascertain effectiveness of intervention and assess additional needs.

3.聽聽聽 Make independent decisions based on needs of emergency and crises.

4.聽聽聽 Serve on an on-call rotation to address after-hours emergencies.

10 %E.Administrative Responsibilities:

1.Maintain accurate records and reports related to residential life operations.

2.Assist with the development and management of the residential life budget.

Education:

Required:Bachelors Degree

Preferred:Masters in higher education administration, counseling, or related field.

Professional Experience:

Required:1 year of residence life and/or other campus programming聽聽 experience.

Preferred:2 years of experience as a residential life counselor. Experience supervising part-time employees.
