Job Description

Overview:

The individual filling this position will be responsible for overseeing the irrigation and fertilization of the northern farming region of the Wonderful Citrus portfolio.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Oversee irrigation technicians collecting field measurements
• Make and record weekly irrigation recommendations under guidance
• Confer with ranch supervisors regarding irrigation and fertilization operations
• Monitor and record precipitation amounts and adjust irrigation schedules accordingly
• Formulate annual water budgets by irrigation set by irrigation district under guidance
• Update fertilizer recommendations annually under guidance
• Update irrigation set attributes when appropriate
• Assist in troubleshooting distribution uniformity issues
• Assist with maintenance of soil moisture probes

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an agricultural science, e.g. soil science, plant physiology, agronomy
• 2+ years of experience working in production agriculture including managing irrigation and fertilization
• An understanding of fundamental fluid dynamics
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and cooperate
• The ability to effectively oversee field technicians
• The ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. and manually sample soils using a soil auger or other sampling probe
• The ability to work outside in varying environmental conditions
• Computer proficiency, including using Office 365 applications
• Demonstrated ability to perform arithmetic and basic algebraic calculations
• A valid CA driver’s license

Pay Range: $80,000 - $85,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills and experience.
