Job Position: School Social Worker (In-Person)
Location: Addison, IL 60101
Shift: M-F 8:10 AM/3:10 PM
Description:
Birch Agency is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced in-person School Social Worker to join our team for the upcoming school year. This position is based at our Early Learning Center, serving children ages 3 to 5.
Position Overview:
The School Social Worker will play a vital role in supporting the social-emotional development and well-being of young learners. This position includes collaboration with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to help students thrive in both general education and self-contained special education settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide socialemotional support to students (ages 35) through individual, small-group, and large-group sessions focusing on emotional regulation, peer interaction, and problem-solving.
Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to develop strategies that promote student well-being and school readiness.
Conduct social developmental histories, screenings, and assessments for special education evaluations.
Participate in IEP meetings, contributing to eligibility determinations, goal setting, and service planning.
Support students' transitions into preschool and from preschool to kindergarten.
Provide crisis intervention and help develop safety/support plans as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in accordance with district and legal standards.
Qualifications:
Must be a licensed School Social Worker in the state of Illinois
Experience working with early childhood populations (preferred)
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
