About The Position

 We are seeking a skilled Hospice/Palliative Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position at a hospice facility in Delaware. This 40-day assignment offers a flexible schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a minimum of three days per week, starting on date 06/02/2025. The position is initially set for three months with the possibility of extension. The physician will provide expert advice to on-floor providers, handling 20-40 calls per day related to hospice and palliative care, including cases involving cardiac issues, cancer, Alzheimer's, and ALS. This role focuses on supporting hospice and palliative care teams without direct patient interaction.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide expert consultations for hospice and palliative care cases

• Advise on-floor providers on patient care strategies

• Handle 20-40 calls per day related to various end-of-life care scenarios

• Offer guidance on cardiac, cancer, Alzheimer's, and ALS cases

• Support hospice and palliative care teams with medical expertise

• Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) discussions

• Recommend appropriate pain management and symptom control measures

• Assist in developing and modifying care plans as needed

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Netsmart system

• Stay current with advancements in hospice and palliative medicine

• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures

• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in end-of-life care


Additional Information:

• Delaware state medical license required

• Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine

• Experience with Netsmart system is beneficial
