We have a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Plant Fitter to join our team at our Head Offices in Abergavenny. Due to the nature of the role, we are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Penarth, Barry, Porthcawl, Neath, Usk, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanfoist, Bristol, Chepstow, Pontypridd.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, the Apprentice Plant Fitter will be based in a workshop environment carrying out repairs, services, inspections and preventive maintenance on both plant machinery and equipment.

On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the Apprentice Plant Fitter will include the following (not exhaustive):

  • Ensuring servicing and maintenance are in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and instructions
  • Working on the management of vehicle servicing schedules
  • Keeping downtime to a minimum with timely and safe adherence to the servicing plan
  • Complying to all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental standards
  • Continuing to improve vehicle plant performance whilst maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability on, repairing/servicing vehicles/machines for various construction operations
  • Ensuring that you hold a stock of items that are in regular use and re-ordering or ordering specialist parts to ensure all servicing can be carried out

The ideal candidate will be an Apprentice Plant Fitter who can demonstrate the following:

  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • GCSE standard 9-3
