Make a Real Difference in Your CommunityWe are looking for a dependable, hard-working Driver / General Operative to join our waste management team. This is more than just a driving job - you'll play a key role in keeping Newport clean, safe, and pleasant for residents and visitors.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Performing daily street cleansing duties, such as litter picking, sweeping, and waste removal

  • Driving and safely operating council vehicles as required

  • Following health and safety procedures at all times, including wearing provided PPE (protective clothing and equipment)

  • Working outdoors in all types of weather

  • Helping to maintain public spaces to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation

What We're Looking For:
  • A full and current UK driving licence (this is essential)

  • A strong team player who's also confident working independently

  • Good timekeeping and the ability to follow schedules and routes

  • Friendly and professional when engaging with the public

  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual work such as lifting, bending, and walking long distances

  • Previous experience in cleansing, waste, or refuse services is desirable but not essential
