Creative Media Specialist

UKAEA is leading the drive to put fusion energy on the grid, to give the world a new form of long-term, sustainable low-carbon electricity. At their sites at Culham, Oxfordshire and Rotherham, South Yorkshire, they have a rapidly growing workforce to fulfil their expanding programme of research, focused on delivering the UK's first fusion prototype power plant by 2040.

The Creative Media Specialists will be responsible for providing photography, videography and streaming services to all departments and facilities throughout UKAEA. Production covers, but is not limited to: developing, scripting, filming, editing and post-production.

Working with staff from all departments and facilities throughout the organisation and at all levels, the Creative Media Specialist will deliver high quality creative content to support the organisation's missions and goals.

Their expertise will play a key role in communicating UKAEA's work effectively to both external and internal audiences to support the organisations missions and goals across the intranet, external websites, press releases, social media and marketing collateral.

Accountabilities

  • Create content for UKAEA using photography, videography and streaming services
  • Point of reference for UKAEA as experts in creation of technical content
  • Manage the studio space and suite of creative equipment, ensuring it is all in working order, catalogued and used effectively
  • Support Communications by establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external crews doing work for or in partnership with UKAEA
  • Be responsible for checking content is in accordance with stringent GDPR, safety, security and wider UKAEA policies, advising staff on compliance
  • Ensure a positive external image of UKAEA and branding consistency
  • Contribute to development of processes for checking and compliance
  • Support UKAEA with photography/videography/streaming at internal and external events both on and off site
  • Manage the uploading and storage of creative content, including providing guidance to others on the use of the UKAEA Digital Assets Manager

Able to work to a brief autonomously and able to define briefs for self and others for content of moderate complexity (short films with defined focus)

Budget Responsibilities

  • Have an awareness of budget, forward planning where possible to keep UKAEA's creative assets current
  • Research and arrange subscription services including financial negotiations

Qualifications/Experience

Essential:

  • A degree qualification in creative media / digital media or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years recent hands-on experience of photography and/or videography and/or streaming
  • Experience in the Adobe suite
  • Good organisational and administrative skills with a keen eye for detail and excellent time management

Desirable:

  • Experience in creating content with proven awareness for equality, diversity and inclusivity
  • An understanding of the principles of data protection and how these impact media services
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team and independently, managing own workload
  • Experience in equipment management and upkeep

Other Duties:

  • When essential, cover the workload from the other Creative Media Specialist(s)
  • Provide experience in a consultancy capacity when creative advice is requested
  • Creatively support other UKAEA run projects
