My client is one of the UK’s fastest growing recruitment businesses. Recent expansion into the MSP space and penetration in to both continental European and USA markets have created the need for an experienced Financial Controller to join our senior leadership team and manage a small department of finance and payroll specialists.

Your task will be to manage our finance function which includes an Accounts Department, comprising two payroll and one finance assistant. As such you’ll be a strong manager and communicator as well as a talented accountant. The ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritise a varied workload is essential, and you’ll process excellent experience of modern online accounting systems such as Xero (essential) Timesheet Portal (ideal).

You will also be working across numerous currencies (US, CAD, Euro, SEK & CHP) so experience of FX transaction is required. You should be able to work well under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail, and previous experience of working to deadlines would be beneficial.

Duties:

Accounts & Budgeting

  • Management of company accounts within Xero, including account reconciliation.
  • Generation of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheets, accruals) for both company and by department.
  • Generation and submission of reports for the purposes of bank audits or management account report requests.
  • Generation and submission of quarterly/annual VAT and corporation tax returns & payments.
  • Production of profit/revenue documentation as required to demonstrate performance of the business against consultant individual targets and budget.
  • Supervision & submission of quarterly Intermediaries Report.
  • Review of credit control function, debt turn reduction and allocations of cash.

Team Leadership

  • General management of payroll and finance team (currently three part-time employees), ensuring staff wellbeing, training needs and succession planning.
  • Supervision & responsibility for monthly contractor payroll.
  • Overseeing invoicing process to ensure accurate and timely invoicing for both permanent staff and contract recruitment.
  • Oversee management of operational data including KPI’s
  • Provision of monthly staff payroll including collection and processing of consultant commission.
  • Overseeing the management of assigned facilities management of the office

Banking

  • Managing the relationship with banking providers (general banking and factoring)
  • Overseeing liaison with invoice finance partners to ensure all credit control/client payment issues are resolved seamlessly.
  • Management of existing and new bank accounts (for example, different currency accounts as required)
  • Advising directors on new financial products & services in the market, ensuring the best support for the best price available.

Cost Control

  • Analysis and reporting of costs within the business, commenting on trends and advising upon where savings can be made.
  • Analysing suppliers and ensuring the business receives best value in its supply chain. This may involve renegotiation of contracts or approaches to potential new vendors.

Strategy

  • Responsible for strategic direction of Finance and Compliance functions including medium and long-term planning around outsourcing and management of existing and potentially new suppliers (for instance, looking at factoring versus invoice discount options, benefits and cost)
  • Advising and implementing where agreed strategies to improve company infrastructure, particularly where that benefits the long-term attractiveness of the company to potential investors.
  • Overseeing medium to long-term quality compliance, investigation and potential implementation of ISO in the business.

You must have experience of working in finance within a recruitment company to be considered for the role.

This position would suit someone who is currently a Financial Controller or someone that is ready to set up to that position.
