Two new and exciting opportunities have arisen for an active and motivated Head Gardener and Assistant Gardener to join a stunning newly renovated 8-bedroom property near Altrincham which includes leisure pavilion and pool.

There are 4 acres of gardens which are the culmination of 4 years careful planning.  Laid out with a variety of areas there is a classic frame of mature trees and hedges with a series of specific set piece areas.  These include large greenhouse and vegetable borders, patios and terraces and a series of herbaceous borders with lawned walkways, rockery and water gardens, all within a unique collection of planting.

Although only recently completed, the gardens have an instant maturity and range of textures that will flourish with the right care. The Assistant Gardener will work closely with the Head Gardener on the maintenance of the gardens and grounds to a high standard throughout the year. Together, they will produce and supply the house with vegetables, fruit and cut flowers and will also be requested to co-ordinate and supervise any contractors whilst working in the property grounds.

The successful applicant will have experience in a similar role and good plant knowledge and horticultural skills. They will be excellent at timekeeping, flexibility and attention to detail. Ability to occasionally work unsupervised and on own initiative is important as well as they must work well as part of a team and be able to liaise well with other staff. It is essential that the gardener has discretion at all times and a respectful attitude towards the principals and their property. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and have a positive disposition - someone who takes pride in their work. Candidates should also be experience in using and maintaining a range of garden machinery and have a full, clean driving licence.

The working week is Monday - Friday, with flexibility required as determined by weather conditions.  Some evening and weekend work will be required, including harvesting of fruit and vegetables, summer watering and similar season-dependent tasks for which, time off in lieu will be given.

This is a long-term position requiring commitment and flexibility and a positive attitude is essential.  Fluent English required.
