Apprenticeship - Commis Chef Level 2 (full time)
If you have at least 1 year of kitchen experience and are looking to formally learn and qualify as a chef this opportunity will give you all-round experience and the qualification of Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship taking you to more senior roles as a Chef de Partie level 3 either with us or elsewhere.
Job tasks:
- Prepping ingredients and components for our menu
- Cooking and serving modern British classics.
- Ensuring the kitchen follows all health and safety requirements
- Helping the rest of the team with daily cleaning tasks such as dishwashing and clean stations
Training:
- Weekly attendance at Chichester Catering College during term-time - one full day every week from September 2024 (additional attendance may also be required for English and Maths) as well as occasional attendance at college for workshops and revision
- Building a portfolio of work with dishes demonstrating your ability and skills in your daily role.
Commis Chef
- From £12 ph
- Same as above but without the requirement to undergo formal apprenticeship training
Chef de Partie
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Setting up the kitchen prior to a restaurant’s opening
- Preparing a particular kitchen session (breakfast, lunch or dinner) by bringing all food containers to that point in the line
- Cooking a number of specific plated meals
- Assisting with marinating, cutting and precooking foods
- Cleaning the kitchen before the restaurant closes
- Cleaning and sanitising their area with warm water and soap
- Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of a shift
- Plating food creatively and maximising customer enjoyment
All positions are full-time requiring staff to follow a rota covering week-days and / or weekends.
