JR99: Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: Ashford, KentSalary: £30,000 - £60,000 DOE Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed design calculations, technical drawings, specifications and reports for heating, ventilation, cooling, domestic water, gas and above ground drainage.
- Carry out dynamic thermal modelling (via software) to influence mechanical design and produce draft design stage SBEM/EPC’s
- Be able to produce mechanical designs with limited supervision from Principal engineer.
- Use knowledge of relevant standards and guidance to influence mechanical designs.
- Co-ordinated with other design disciplines to produce fully co-ordinated designs.
- Carry out site surveys and produce reports.
- Deal with site queries and review quality of workmanship during construction phases.
- Manage own time to support and deliver multiple projects to agreed time scales and budget.
- Take ownership of individual tasks and projects.
- Manage CAD/Revit Technicians working on assigned projects
- Communicate with team members, clients, and other construction professionals about projects.
- Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
- Offer leadership, mentoring and motivation to apprentice and graduate engineers.
- Ensure design compliance with legislation, code etc keep up to date with developing best practice.
- Have awareness of other key disciplines (Architectural, Structural and civil)
- Operate within IMS quality system for production and checking of design work.
- Assist in developing in-house standards for MEP.
- Ensure the CDM regulations are followed and documented.
- Attend relevant CPD’s.
- Hold CSCS card at appropriate level.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Heating, ventilation, HVAC, water services, drainage, utility services.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and construction industry design processes.
- Confident verbal communicator.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Driven for progressive and continued learning.
- Team player.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering/Environmental/Building Services Engineering (Preferred)
- HNC/HND level in Building Services Engineering or equivalent (Preferred)
- Working towards Engineering Council Registration.
