Our clients are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of cost-effective and robust Mechanical Engineering solutions for new customer programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering cost-effective mechanical engineering solutions.
- Completing and releasing detailed engineering drawings.
- Liaising with production and suppliers regarding Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing.
- Resolving component and assembly concerns.
- Collaborating with suppliers and production to deliver prototype parts for testing and development.
- Leading subsystem design.
- Conducting design reviews and DFMEA sessions.
- Leading Value Engineering and Analysis sessions.
- Managing design tasks and timelines effectively.
- Mentoring Junior Engineers.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification and experience.
Experience:
- Essential experience in the design of mechanical components.
- Advantageous experience in the design of electrical systems.
- Essential product development experience.
- Advantageous experience in the design and analysis of cooling systems.
- Advantageous exposure to the Automotive/Electric Drive Train sector.
- Advantageous experience in transmission design and development.
- Advantageous exposure to rotating machine design and rotor dynamics.
- Thorough knowledge of volume production processes, materials, and assembly techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of Value Engineering, DFA, DFM techniques for low-cost production.
Skills:
- Essential proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
- Advantageous experience with PTC Creo 3D CAD.
- Solid understanding of BS8888 drawing standard requirements.
- Analytical skills using Altair Sim Solid, Sim Lab, or other structural simulation tools.
- Analysis techniques using ProE Creo Simulation/Mechanica or other structural simulation tools.
- Analysis techniques using Romax or other transmission simulation tools.
- Analysis techniques using Altair CFD simulation tools.
- Analysis techniques using Motor Cad or other motor design simulation tools.
- Analysis techniques using Simulink simulation tools.
- Advantageous experience with DFMEA techniques and PLM systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, clients, and contractors.
