Senior Accountant | Aylesbury | Insurance Company | £70,000-£80,000

A permanent Senior Accountant job for an Insurance company based in Aylesbury paying £70,000-£80,000.

You’ll be working for an industry leading life insurance company with a national footprint based in Aylesbury with almost a century in the industry built on trusted sector experience, a customer centric operation and stable financial foundations.

You’ll be working as a Senior Accountant and will be a senior member of the team within financial reporting. Your duties will include;

  • Contribute and collaborate with the Financial Reporting team with the delivery of the monthly, half yearly and annual financial and regulatory reporting for the company and its subsidiaries. Reporting is done on the following bases; UK GAAP, IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Supporting the Finance management team to co-ordinate activities and ensure all key deliverables are delivered to time, cost and quality metrics.
  • Ensure that returns e.g. Solvency II are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of financial positions including Statutory Accounts and Solvency II returns.
  • Analyse results and query figures and provide insights on the data available.
  • Contribute significantly to projects and provide appropriate financial input as necessary.
  • Liaison with third parties where required, including external auditors and fund custodians, to progress resolution of any queries.
  • Maintain a compliant culture that meets expected conduct measures including regulatory requirements
  • Maintain risks arising from the activities and deliverables in accordance with the Risk Management Framework and Policies.
  • Monitor the regulatory environment in respect of Solvency II and related areas.
  • Ensure records are maintained and controlled in accordance with prescribed practices and procedures.
  • Review effectiveness of the Finance control environment (including systems) and implement changes where required.
  • Act as Finance Lead or SME for Finance projects from initiation to implementation.
  • Lead in the specification of new systems and process developments.

You'll need to be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and have a comprehensive working knowledge of Solvency II and IFRS17. You'll need to have strong general ledger, financial reporting and financial analysis skills and ideally have experience within a group function. You'll also need to have experience within the life insurance and pensions industry.

You’ll be paid £70,000-£80,000 plus bonus and work a 35 hour week in a full time office based role although hybrid working can be accomodated. You'll also receive an excellent pension contribution, life assurance and private medical cover.
