Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the Role:
We are partnering with a supportive school in Long Crendon seeking a compassionate and skilled SEMH Teaching Assistant. This role involves working closely with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to support their wellbeing, behaviour, and learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, both one-to-one and in small groups

Assist in delivering differentiated learning activities tailored to pupils’ emotional and educational needs

Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour management strategies

Help pupils manage their emotions, develop self-regulation skills, and build resilience
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support pupils holistically

Support pupils during lessons, as well as break and lunch times, to encourage positive social interactions

Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes pupil wellbeing
Candidate Profile:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour

Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management and pupil support

Knowledge of positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
