Senior Town Planner

Location: Buckinghamshire

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing property consultancy based in Prestwood, Great Missenden. This is a chance to become a key figure within a specialist team delivering bespoke planning and development solutions to a broad range of private clients, family businesses, and commercial enterprises.

The Role

You'll be leading the delivery of planning services across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of Chartered Surveyors and Agri-Business Consultants, you'll play a central role in shaping planning strategy, securing permissions, and unlocking value for clients.

There is genuine scope for progression, with the opportunity to build out the planning function further and take a lead on generating new business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on planning consultancy work including strategic land promotion, rural development, diversification schemes, and commercial/residential planning applications
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
  • Advising on pre-application strategy and liaising with local planning authorities
  • Managing the appointment and coordination of external consultants
  • Providing planning appraisals and identifying new opportunities for clients
  • Supporting business development activity and contributing to the growth of the practice

About You

  • Ideally 5+ years post-qualification experience in town planning or a related field
  • Strong track record of handling complex planning schemes, ideally with rural and/or mixed-use exposure
  • Commercially minded, confident in dealing directly with clients
  • Able to manage competing demands, work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • RTPI accreditation is desirable but not essential for those with demonstrable experience
