ASEND supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a supportive and compassionate SEN tutor to support a young man with ADHD in Aylesbury.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for wonderful tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Aylesbury. We support pupils with SEND who may not be attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school. Our tutors also work within schools supporting pupils who need that tailored support.

We support pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our work is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of people to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each person with pupils and roles who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil and role

Our pupil is a 16-year-old young man with ADHD who struggles with social and emotional difficulties. He is a bright and thoughtful young person who is always willing to lend a helping hand. He strives to make a difference and reflect on his actions and wants to build a positive mindset about his life to help him overcome his anxieties. He enjoys gaming, football, boxing and is an excellent mathematician. We would love to find someone who has similar interests and can help guide him in becoming more confident and also help achieve GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications.

A tutor who is sensitive and understanding will be crucial, as he has faced challenges in his family environment and will need someone who can build a positive and trusting relationship. Someone who is confident in delivering GCSE or Functional Skills level content is essential, as our pupil is looking to achieve these qualifications.

About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and SEMH.

  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way

  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement

  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan

  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
