Legacy Strategies is hiring on behalf of our client in the civil engineering industry for the role ofQuantity Surveyor. We're currently seeking an experiencedQuantity Surveyorto join their team.

This role is crucial in ensuring our projects meet legal and quality standards by accurately estimating and diligently controlling costs. From initial planning to project completion, you'll be at the forefront, leveraging your expertise in civil engineering to oversee various aspects such as earthworks, roads, drainage, and services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Estimate and control project costs to meet legal and quality standards throughout.
  • Participate in all project phases, providing expertise.
  • Manage civil engineering tasks like earthworks, roads, and drainage.
  • Prepare Interim Applications and Final Accounts accurately.
  • Supervise subcontractors and handle payments.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure financial stability.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage costs efficiently, providing monthly reports.
  • Create and maintain weekly production monitors.
  • Establish and manage record-keeping systems.
  • Generate monthly Cost Value Reports.
  • Develop estimates and price Bills of Quantities.
  • Manage change control processes and assess Compensation Events.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors.
  • Take full responsibility for project cost management.
  • Handle procurement processes for subcontracted work.
  • Perform thorough cost analysis and monitor expenditures.
  • Proficient in NEC 3 Option B Contract and CEMAR software.
  • Review contracts and assess contractual risks.
  • Assist in managing claims.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, especially NEC 3 Option B Contract.
  • Proficiency in CEMAR software.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities and adeptness at prioritisation in dynamic environments.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Competence in cost estimation, analysis, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Advantageous to have relevant professional certifications or memberships (e.g., RICS).
