Barnsley Recruitment Services are working with our lovely client, a Barnsley secondary school, to hire a Vice Principal for a September 2024 start.
Role and Responsibilities:
- You will contribute to the work of the Senior Leadership Team in line with the requirement set out byÂ
- the Principal
- You will have a ‘deep’ area as your major focus (i.e., Learning / Experience / Support / Leadership)
- You will ensure that intervention, challenge, and support is provided across all curriculum areas toÂ
- ensure the highest possible outcomes are achieved for all students
- You will ensure all Trust systems and policies are implemented consistently and to a high standardÂ
- You will ensure effective teaching and learning throughout the academy through effective monitoring,Â
- evaluating, challenging, and developing staff and modelling excellent practice through your ownÂ
- teaching
- You will actively pursue continuous professional development as a potential Principal and engage inÂ
- support /consultancy work in at least one other academy per year
- You will actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion at all levels of academy activity
- You will act as Principal of the academy as may be needed
- You will be flexible to meet the constantly changing demand of the role
- You will be prepared to undertake outreach work on behalf of the academy
- You will keep up to date on educational development, strategy and thinking.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or equivalentÂ
• Qualified Teacher StatusÂ
• Up to date knowledge in subject, national policy, pedagogy, classroom management strategies,Â
research/inspection findings and statutory requirementsÂ
• Knowledge of the current professional teaching standardsÂ
• Significant experience at senior leadership levelÂ
• An outstanding classroom practitioner with the highest expectations for progress of all studentsÂ
• Thorough understanding of recent curriculum developmentsÂ
• Experience of monitoring and improving the quality of teaching and learning through rigorous qualityÂ
assurance proceduresÂ
• Proven experience of developing good working relationships with all stakeholdersÂ
• Proven experience in the analysis of performance data for the purposes of target setting, monitoringÂ
