**Manpower Engineering is delighted to be supporting our prestigious client ASTON MARTIN in their search for a HEAD OF AUDIT to join their team in St Athan**


JOB PURPOSE:
The plant quality department plays a key role in identifying and rectifying quality issues and opportunities in a timely manner so that it does not impact the customer.
You will work to continuously improve complete vehicle auditing within Aston Martin in controlling management of systems and standards in respect to direct reports in AMCPA area, leading to a zero repeat issue culture.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously improve all areas of operations including quality, inspection, standardised work, cost, and people development.
  • Run an efficient complete vehicle audit process (static and dynamic) holding problem owners to account for the robust closure of issues found to ensure zero repeat issues.
  • Manage Audit feedback sessions with all responsible areas of the business, agreeing both allocation of faults and rework requirements.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with both Production areas and Inspection Operations within Paint, Body Construction and CAL (Customer Acceptance Line).
  • Support the emissions and CoP (Conformity of Production) activities to maintain monthly requirements and ensure that all emissions targets are achieved.
  • Prepare and implement any new model changes in readiness for SOP (Start of Production) as required.
  • Ensure flexibility in the audit and compliance processes to stop issues shipped from Plant based on feedback from: PDI, 0MIS, EPDR, etc.
  • Report out in PQR (Plant Quality Review) and Quality Committee to Senior levels up to CEO within the business against challenging targets.
  • Monitor, control, and maintain the quality level within the areas of responsibility to the company quality standards ensuring that the customer (internal and external) is protected.
  • Ensure that the departmental area of responsibility can function always in terms of labour, consumable materials and maintained equipment in order to achieve the required quality levels and support plant volume requirements.
  • Motivate, support, and lead the team through coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintain housekeeping, waste management, and compliance to safety and environmental legislation.
  • Plan labour requirements and where necessary ensure procedures are followed to recruit labour.
  • Maintain an effective level of communication always across all areas and levels of the business escalating issues as required.
  • Assist and facilitate training to develop team members and minimise impact of labour shortages.
  • Ensure data collection is up to date and accurate.
  • Monitor team local budgetary spend on overtime, tooling, and other consumable type items.


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the Automotive Industry and Vehicle Assembly/Construction.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory/leadership role within a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in defining and delivering new procedures and processes.
  • In-line and final vehicle Audit experience essential (CAL/AMCPA)
  • General knowledge of ISO9001
  • Experience in gap & flush, paint and general automotive inspection tools and techniques.
  • Familiar with general automotive quality standards, such as AML VIS (Visual Inspection Standards) or equivalent.
  • Carry out base measurement on vehicles using appropriate tools and gauges.
  • Able to physically investigate vehicle issues, including some assembly/dis-assembly if required.
  • Proven ability of team development and team motivation, ability to work effectively within a team and can lead with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence others. Enthusiastic and determined, highly self-motivated.
  • High degree of numeracy and literacy.
  • The ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver and thrive in an ever changing and dynamic environment.
