Job Description:

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team and work within SEN schools and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) in Vale of Glamorgan. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support and encouragement they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, assisting them with their learning and development in line with their individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities that meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Support pupils with sensory, physical, or communication difficulties to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel valued, respected, and encouraged to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to supporting pupils with SEN.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of pupils with SEN.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of pupils and the school environment.
