About the Academy:

As a specialist SEMH secondary school for students aged 10–16, they challenge the ordinary with bold and innovative approaches. Each day, the staff goes above and beyond to provide life-changing education for young people with ASC and SEMH needs.

Support Manager Role:

  • Communicate complex and sensitive information empathetically to staff, pupils, and families
  • Use interpersonal and de-escalation skills in emotionally charged or antagonistic situations
  • Provide care, guidance, discipline, and encouragement to students
  • Act as a positive role model, showing fairness, compassion, and setting clear boundaries
  • Collaborate effectively with parents, stakeholders, and external agencies
  • Support the Line Manager in developing team competencies
  • Follow all Academy policies and procedures
  • Report behavioural issues promptly and accurately to senior staff
  • Assist in ensuring staff are trained in record-keeping practices
  • Keep up-to-date with IT skills and data protection standards
  • Monitor and update the online bullying reporting system daily
  • Participate in audits and support action plan development with the Line Manager

Requirements for Support Manager Role:

  • NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent qualification
  • Desirable: Behaviour Management training
  • Experience working in a classroom environment
  • Proven ability to support challenging behaviours
  • SECID (Social, Emotional, and Communication Interaction Difficulties) experience needed
  • Experience with family liaison or related responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills, and confident in negotiation and influencing situations
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to implement behavioural strategies effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and skilled in de-escalation techniques

  • Have the right to work in the UK. 
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
