Mechanical Fitter - Valves - MC268563

Mechanical Fitter required for a family-owned valve manufacturer based in Basingstoke. The successful candidate will have previous mechanical fitting experience ideally with experience with Manual lathes as well.

Mechanical Fitter - Valves Position Overview

Hydrostatic and function testing and certification of pressure regulators and control. valves to agree standards.

  • Assembly of machined components and pressure setting to complete configuration of pneumatic regulators.
  • Final machining on manual/CNC lathes and lapping of assembled trim.
  • Machining one off and complex components to customer specification used in the production of valves and regulators.
  • Experience of machining and metal cutting working with various cast iron, stainless steel and other exotics.
  • Use of a wide range of measuring equipment to check components.
  • Routine machine maintenance.
  • Ensuring that quality standards are met and any deviations are reported.
  • Completion of paper work as required.
  • Discuss project instruction and specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee

consistency

between plans and products.

  • Experience of machining Various metals.
  • Supervise machine operating parameters (e.g. temperature and tool wear).
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation.
  • May perform a variety of other duties/tasks and production and business requires.

Mechanical Fitter - Valves Position Requirements

Ideally qualified HNC/HND or higher in mechanical engineering or machining.

  • Not less than 2 years hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing workshop.
  • A comprehensive understanding materials handling including crane driving and slinging.

A good knowledge of CNC software and hardware programming skills desirable.

Lathe experience ideal

Mechanical Fitter - Valves Position Remuneration

Salary dependent on experience £25,000-£35,000

Flexible hours (core hours 07:00-15:30 but can start later if needed)

37.5 hour week

Hybrid work available (2 days working from home a week)
