The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our team, reporting to the Financial Controller. In this role, you will be pivotal in insuring that the monthly management accounts are prepared within agreed timescale, the day-to-day management of your key responsibilities and assisting the Financial Controller as well as the Financial & HR Director with any ad hoc information in a timely fashion, ensuring integrity, accuracy, compliance with financial regulations, and adherence to best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate & timely management accounts, targeting a working day 2 delivery, some key tasks include accruals and prepayments, deferred income, balance sheet and income reconciliations
  • Manage: Oversee 2 direct reports (Assistant Management Accountant and Accounts Payable Clerk) and assist them in achieving their objectives. Provide cover and assistance to colleagues during busy periods and annual leave.
  • Purchase Ledger: Work with the Accounts Payable Clerk in ensuring all information is entered into the accounting software in a timely and accurate manner with correct budget coding, and where necessary assisting with data entry into the accounting software
  • Budgeting: Liaison with budget holders across the business to ensure effective communication, timely and accurate provision of financial information. Contribute to the annual budgeting process, taking ownership for some departments under the direction of the FC.
  • Year-End accounts: Working with the Assistant Management Accountant to produce the first draft of year end management accounts with accompanying schedules for review by the Financial Controller
  • Payments & Expenses: Initial review of supplier payments & staff expenses
  • Company Credit cards: Manage the processing of company credit cards in line with company policies
  • Casual Payroll: Work with HR to complete the monthly casual payroll
  • Year-End Audit: Assist the FC with the annual financial audit process
  • Development: Assisting the FC in the development, implementation and enhancement of the financial controls within the business
  • Special Projects: Undertake additional assigned projects. Producing financial and commercial analysis across various aspects of the business as required by the Financial & HR Director and Financial Controller on an ad hoc basis

Who are we looking for:

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Part Qualified in ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience in specific cases
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in practice/industry with at least 2 years of experience in leading the production of management accounts
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a passion for accuracy
  • Strong Technical accounting and IT skills including, Excel, and basic financial modelling
  • (Sage preferred but not essential)
  • A strong communicator who operates with integrity
  • Good understanding of VAT and PAYE
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing workload, able to prioritise and plan ahead to optimise efficiency
  • A solution focussed individual who thrives in a busy environment

Location:

This role is primarily based at Bath Rugby's Head Office in Farleigh Hungerford (BA2 7RW) on the outskirts of Bath, with occasional work at The Rec in Bath City Centre. The role holder should live in a commutable distance to Bath and have their own transportation due to location and limited public transport.
