Head of People - Manufacturing / Engineering
Based in Belfast
Paying between 65k - 75k + car Allowance + Bonus

LHH Recruitment Solutions have partnered with a leading provate sector business based in Belfast. Our client, a leading organisation in the industry, is seeking a highly experienced and qualified individual to join their team as the Head of People. This is a strategic role that will play a pivotal part in shaping and executing the people strategy to support the organisation's overall goals.

The successful candidate will have a CIPD level 7 qualification or equivalent experience, along with a strong background in human resources, including Trade Union experience. They will be able to demonstrate their expertise in various HR areas, including workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and performance management. Additionally, experience in working within a unionised environment and internationally is highly desirable.

As the Head of People, the main responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on HR policy and implementing HR procedures and processes
  • Developing and directing an HR agenda that aligns with the organisation's business goals
  • Leading and supporting the People Business Partner and People Administrator in delivering the overarching People strategy
  • Building and maintaining good relations with the Trade Union and leading/negotiating when required
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders and managers, providing effective employee relations advice
  • Identifying HR framework and tool requirements to meet business needs
  • Developing and deploying business-critical employee lifecycle procedures
  • Creating an inclusive environment where all employees feel valued and empowered
  • Upholding and contributing to a safety-first culture within the organisation

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following skills:

  • Ability to make sense of complex information and effectively solve problems
  • Experience in driving change within a complex business and matrix structures
  • Strong interpersonal skills and resilience in working with ambiguity
  • In-depth understanding of technology, external regulations, and industry best practises
  • Accountability and commitment to meet commitments
  • Trade Union experience - working in a Unionised environment is critical
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information to different audiences
  • Conflict resolution abilities with a focus on achieving positive outcomes
  • Strong process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
