Our client based in the Scottish Borders, are a progressive and pioneering business. They are recruiting for a Financial Controller to fill a key role within the business as we continue to expand.

The Role

Reporting to The Directors, the role includes:

  • ï‚· Preparation of monthly and annual management accounts using Sage.

  • ï‚· Overseeing Sales and Purchase legers.

  • ï‚· Supervision of general book-keeping and business records.

  • ï‚· Vat returns, incl. foreign transactions and taxes

  • ï‚· Banking, including foreign currency purchase and transactions.

  • ï‚· Attending management meetings, reporting, and taking minutes.

  • ï‚· Overall responsibility for payroll, and processing where required.

  • ï‚· Extensive use of our dedicated nursery management software, which will be taught in-house.

  • ï‚· Assisting and supporting other departments where necessary

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • ï‚· Relevant accounting experience and preferably a relevant qualification.

  • ï‚· Proven track record of accounting and book-keeping procedures.

  • ï‚· Familiarity with Sage.

  • ï‚· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and associated technology

  • ï‚· To show thoroughness and attention to detail.

  • ï‚· Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.

  • ï‚· To be forward-thinking, flexible, and adaptable to respond to change and swift decision making.

  • ï‚· Desire for continuous improvement and personal development to remain up to date with

    legislation, accounting and regulatory developments.

  • ï‚· Ability to seek improved systems and processes of work.

  • ï‚· Familiarity with import and export procedures and regulations would be beneficial.

  • ï‚· To be a proven team player, willing and able to operate within an agile, dynamic, forward-

    thinking team.

  • ï‚· Working knowledge of Payroll would be beneficial.
