Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an SEN Case Officer on behalf of London Borough of Bexley.

About the Role

The SEN Case Officer will be responsible for leading and managing a caseload of children and young people with SEND, subject to Statutory Assessment and review, advising parents and schools where required and appropriate, taking forward to resolution whenever possible, within current policy and subject to decisions made by the Statutory Assessment and Review Panel, on behalf of the Local Authority.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND
  • Ensure completion of the Statutory Assessment process
  • Provide advice and guidance to schools and parents on the Statutory Assessment process
  • Contribute to the Annual Review and transition review process for children and young people with Education Health and Care Plans
  • Manage tribunal appeals, including preparation of Working Documents, checking LA responses to Tribunal, supporting bundle preparations, requesting advice from appropriate Professionals and working with and supporting other Case Officers in the team on the Tribunal process, if required
  • Assist and advise parents/carers on their approach to their child's school regarding their SEND
Requirements:
  • Experience in managing a caseload of children and young people with SEND
  • Knowledge of the Statutory Assessment process and related regulations and legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An Enhanced DBS with Barred List checks required
