Assistant Accountant Required!

We are delighted to be partnering with a leading Birmingham based Public Sector organisation, as they look to recruit a new Interim Assistant Accountant.

This role would provide you the opportunity to join a highly reputable Public Sector organisation, presenting you with an excellent challenge and opportunity to work in a thriving finance unit.

This is a temporary (3 months) opportunity offering a highly flexible working model, being required on-site 2 days per week. You will also be paid on a weekly timesheet basis at £18 - £21 hourly via Umbrella (inclusive of holiday pay).

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out month end reconciliations for relevant Balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure the bank account reconciles with the daily bank statements and monthly statements for all other bank accounts
  • Management of the fixed asset element and processes within SAP
  • Managing the correct accounting transactions around additions and disposals, and ensuring the correct depreciation is charged
  • Manage the relationship with external suppliers to ensure that updates are implemented, and the system is maintained on a timely basis
  • Reconcile financial statements and notes to the accounts against the SAP core accounting information, ensuring supporting paperwork exists to justify any variances
  • Support the Senior Financial Operations Manager with the preparation of the annual statutory accounts, and the preparation of annual tax returns
  • Support the Senior Financial Operations Manager with the internal and external audit process
  • Manage relationships with all internal and external stakeholders proactively and effectively

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, systems and software packages
  • Fully qualified Accountant (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Short notice availability
