This job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out within the role and identifies the level of responsibility but not limited to, the position may also require other duties which are to be carried out from time to time as deemed appropriate by your line manager.

Responsible to the Site Manager if one has been appointed on the project otherwise reporting to the Project / Construction Manager to:

Ensure the operatives follow Works Package Plan / Method Statement.

Ensure all operatives received a Daily Activity Brief which is based on the Task Briefing for the works being carried out and are aware of all project risks.

Submit material / plant requisitions to the Procurement Department / Line Manager in a timely manner in line with the Company Procedure.

Ongoing monitoring and reporting of Site Teams to ensure safe working practices, timekeeping, presentation, HSQE behavioural attitude and duty of care to company assets.

Ensure safe and secure access to and from all places of work are maintained.

Maintain a tidy and well-organised workplace.

Make sure that the correct PPE is available, training is given for its use where appropriate and that it is used and worn correctly.

Ensure the welfare facilities are suitable and sufficient for operatives.

Co-operate fully with any requirement or advice given by the HSE, the ORR, Client / Pod-Trak HSQE Departments.

Attend training courses and safety inductions as required.

Ensure that all machinery and plant, including power and hand tools are maintained in good condition and fit for use, have necessary test certificates and that any defects are reported. (PUWER/LOLER)

Prepare and submit mandatory paperwork to the relevant department on a weekly basis to comply with Quality

Assurance and Company Policy.

Carry out detailed daily shift reports and file in project folder at the end of each shift or weekly for remote sites.

Prepare weekly timesheet, obtain client signature and submit to Line Manager.

Ensure that all incidents are recorded and reported to the HSQE team within 12 hours and the appropriate action taken as required.

Set a personal example by wearing appropriate safety equipment, i.e. safety helmets, safety trousers, safety footwear etc. when on site.

Responsible for contacting all manpower to ensure they are aware where they need to meet and to guide them on the works to be completed.

Set a personal example by looking after company vehicles and plant, keeping them clean and tidy and encouraging others to do the same.

Promote the Pod-Trak Values, and PALs Behavioural Based Safety programme in all aspects of your role with

Competence requirements: At least 7 years experience of railway infrastructure as a supervisor or charge hand, good knowledge and experience of health, safety, environment system requirements in the railway infrastructure industry. To have as a minimum Site Safety Supervisors Training (SSSTS)
