Electrical Site Supervisor (Water Treatment) £21.00ph Plus Bonus and Overtime – West Midlands

Job Purpose: To oversee and manage electrical operations to the highest standard of quality, efficiency, and minimal waste. Ensure a safe working environment for all colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily workload of site team activities designated by the Project Engineer, including tooling, paperwork, site contact, time management, and staffing.
  • Report lateness and sickness to the Project Engineer and regularly communicate with engineers to address any issues.
  • Lead inductions, daily briefs, and toolbox talks for site teams.
  • Manage all relevant permit-to-work processes on site.
  • Act as a liaison between project engineers and planning to ensure site teams are aware of their workload and provide guidance on vehicle allocation, tooling, plant and equipment, working away from home, and other site-related matters.
  • Provide first-line guidance on site-specific health and safety issues and compliance, including identifying training needs.
  • Lead site-based activities, including liaising with clients, updating the Project Engineer on daily progress, and addressing any site issues that arise.
  • Act as the site leader on assigned projects, with responsibility for all site-based activities in the absence of the Project Engineer.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on design input, including conducting site surveys and attending design meetings with the Technical Department and/or clients.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Implement the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Policy and procedures in all operations and activities, striving for excellence and utilising best practises to achieve company goals.
  • Ensure all relevant risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place, communicated, understood, and followed by all site engineers, contractors, and visitors.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, support, and motivation to your team.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to monitor health and safety procedures and promote a culture of behavioural change.
  • Report and record any accidents, incidents, or near misses that occur during site activities.
  • Ensure all employees (including subcontractors) understand and adhere to company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Take adequate measures to protect the environment.
  • Set a high standard for others to follow and maintain a good understanding of operating systems.

HR:

  • Deputise for the Project Engineer as needed on site.
  • Ensure all personnel working on site are competent and trained.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure proper coverage for holidays.
  • Adhere to ECS procedures and assist with appraisals as required.

Financial:

  • Identify areas of the project that could be improved and suggest ways to promote best practises across the business.
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of manpower, tools/equipment, and vehicles to assist Project Engineers in achieving project performance goals.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with company health and safety policies, procedures, and codes of practise.
  • Demonstrate and uphold company values.

Competence Profile:

Essential:

  • Specific skill-based qualification at level 3 or above, OR 5 years of field-based experience in a specific skill-based role.
  • C&G 2391 test and inspect certification.
  • 18th edition certification.
  • CSCS Supervisors card.
  • Experience with 3 phase systems/equipment.
  • Experience supervising people and/or site-based activities.

Desirable:

  • NVQ or equivalent in the core role.
  • SMSTS (CITB) certification.
  • Additional field-based skill qualifications.
  • Health and Safety First Aid (3-day) certification.
  • Confined Space training.
  • Level 3 leadership training or working towards it.
  • Experience working with water control assets on rivers and waterways.
