The Company

My client is a dynamic and specialist interior fit-out contractor operating in a variety of sectors ranging from leisure & hospitality, high end commercial office, hotel, luxury residential, museum, heritage and art sector, working on landmark prestigious project throughout the UK and Overseas.

Due to their continued success they have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to take responsibility for the commercial function of this office. You will provide commercial expertise and be responsible for the financial delivery of one or a number of projects to ensure that projects are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding customers’ expectations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

·To manage commercial activities with a high degree of acumen whilst identifying opportunities to add value throughout the project process. In doing so you will price selected trades from first principles using agreed outputs.

·You will also be able to produce a detailed control document at handover to delivery team and complete projects take offs to the required level of detail.

·You will accurately value, certify and issue any relevant payment notices for the subcontract works in accordance with the conditions of their subcontract.

·Ensure that external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date, taking full responsibility for the project’s cash position.

·Complete reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the current position on site and the final profit projection.

·Successful procurement

·Re-measurement of high risk packages and key trades

·A detailed knowledge of relevant contract conditions

·Financial management and cost control on projects

·A high level of organisation and achieving deadlines

·You will be able to communicate well at all levels

·Recognise when there are challenges/conflicts, acknowledge the feelings and views of all parties and ability to redirect energy towards a common goal

·Make best use of available resources and seek new sources of support when necessary

·Prioritise and plan to deliver agreed objectives

·Set demanding but achievable objectives for self and others

·Monitor the quality of work and take appropriate corrective action where necessary

The Successful Commercial Manager:

·The successful candidate will have significant experience as an established Senior QS / Managing QS / Commercial Manager within the design & build construction / fit-out / refurb sector.

·The successful candidate should hold a relevant Quantity Surveying degree qualification, you will be an active and effective team member in respect of cost and commercial matters on the client’s programmes interfacing with other members of the internal project team.

·Ensure accuracy and quality is to the standard required by the client.

·You will take commercial responsibility for contract performance to maximise both turnover and profitability, and will adhere to robust commercial process ensuring that the client obtains continued high quality and value for money.

·You will have strong commercial acumen with good negotiation skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and architects to maintain/build robust relationships.

·You should have good communication skills as you will be required to express your opinions both in writing and verbally at internal and external meetings, with the ability to work well as part of a team, interacting positively with colleagues, internal and external clients
