Database Administrator (Technical Solutions)

Our client seeks a data professional with a broad experience in data management. As a small company we are seeking an individual who has a broad skill set covering Database Administration, Database Architecture, Database Infrastructure and Data Engineering.

You will be part of an exciting Data and Technology Team. The role is pivotal in delivering our data and IT strategy and an excellent opportunity for an individual to design, build and improve our existing capabilities with the mindset to constantly striving for delivering industry best practices. Applicant must have a confident and enthusiastic attitude, be willing push the boundaries and develop innovative and best of breed solutions to contribute to our continued success.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Contributing to data and database solutions both independently and as part of the wider development function delivering optimisation, security, and reliability of our database systems.

Your will be responsible for:

Database Administration:

- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances in various environments.

- Design and implement database structures to meet application and business requirements.

- Collaborate with data and technology team to ensure optimal database performance.

- Handling common DBA tasks such as upgrades, backup, recovery, migrations etc..

- Analysing and automating as much as possible to remove manual tasks.

Performance Tuning:

- Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval.

- Identify and address performance bottlenecks and query execution plans.

- Capacity planning and optimization (performance & cost) of existing and new database infrastructure.

Security Management:

- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.

- Administer user access, permissions, and roles to ensure proper data governance.

Backup and Recovery:

- Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.

Performance Tuning:

- Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval.

- Identify and address performance bottlenecks and query execution plans.

Monitoring and Maintenance:

- Conduct routine monitoring of database health and proactively address issues.

- Monitoring and managing multiple data replication streams.

Job Requirements - Knowledge, Skills

- Several years of hands-on experience.

- Deep understanding of Azure, SQL Server HA and DR and related technologies.

- Strong Understanding of database performance tuning strategies and goals.

- Be confident taking ownership of SQL and database related tasks.

- Strong performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience working with MS-SQL and T-SQL from SQL 2016/2019.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS 2012R2-2019

- Exposure to replication, SSIS and SQL Reporting Services

- Be proactive and passionate about all things data and SQL Server.

- Experience with configuration management.

- Experience with migrating from on-premises to private and public clouds.

- You keep yourself updated about new trends in IT and a proven ability to learn new technologies and use that

knowledge effectively.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills

- Understanding of Supply Chain & Freight

- Willingness to learn and develop.

- Ability to write technical documentation.

- Experience with application security.

- Knowledge of how Linux works.

Education

- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
